The Sinking of the Lusitania, released in 1918, is an animated short film by American artist Winsor McCay. It features a short 12 minute explanation of the sinking of RMS Lusitania after it was struck by two torpedoes fired from a German U-boat. The film was one of many animated silent films published to create anti-German sentiment during World War I. McCay illustrated some 25,000 drawings for the production. The film is stylized as a documentary, informing viewers on details from the actual event, including a moment by moment recap, casualty list, and a list of prominent figures who were killed.

Subject: Amazing .... but no Hun

Beautiful animation. It's hard to say, but true. Many deaths presentation shocking, yet beautiful.
Two serious error, two "stars". Non-hun. (I'm hun, Hungary) Germans fired the torpedoes. The other (bigger) error. Highlighting Four rich man's death. .... The others are dropping just ... I know this is typical of the era. Placing a scene in the movie, "break" causes.
Congratulations to the collector!

Subject: Amazing artistry

It's hard to put into words the way this cartoon is able to convey such a strong emotional response. The people floating in the water started to choke me up a little. The sad part is that so few people know of this work, why it is important, and the effect it had on people in it's day.
Like one of the other reviewers stated, I think I'm a doughboy too.

It boggles the mind- That's a lot of work. The smoke effect was hypnotic! Glad I got to to see this before I died!

Subject: Not to Hate the Hun

This is an amazingly well done animation and even by today's standards.Mccay has always been a favorite artist of mine and this video only strengthens my point of view.It is a hard thing not to hate the Hun and given what this old film is about if one does hate the the Hun,well that is understandable.Original and well put across this film would of made a dough-boy out of me too.Five Stars!
